Pets are welcome at Sierra Ranch!

You wake up one morning and think how nice it would be to roll over and snuggle a big furry pet that loves and adores you. Or you come home from work and realize you want someone there to greet you and be so happy to see you. Companionship and love you get from a pet is a vision of joy played out in glorious day dreams.

But before you run out and pick out your new fur baby stop and consider exactly how much responsibility you are really willing to put into this responsibility. Getting a pet is a lifelong commitment that should not be taken lightly.

First you should know that among the various awesome reasons for owning a pet one of the most positive is the benefits a pet can have on your health and social life.

  • Being exposed to pets can actually reduce allergies to pets.
  • Petting and watching pets reduces stress and may lower blood pressure.
  • Pets are great conversation starters, a sure way to make friends and get dates.
  • Pets motivate you to exercise.

The good news is you can select a pet that fits the level of responsibility you can afford.

If you only want to commit a small amount of time to a pet get a fish. Beta fish are super colorful and will live 2 to 3 years as long as you feed them. You can leave them home alone and if you need to travel asking a friend to feed your fish is not to imposing.

Hermit crabs also require very little responsibility. They will need a small “crabitat”, sand, water and food. They are interesting watch and make for fun conversation.

Snakes, Turtles and Lizards require more responsibility and their feeding is more complex but they can be left alone for longer periods of time. They are also more satisfying as hands on pets.

Gerbils, mice, hamsters and guinea pigs fall into the realm of furry and hands on. These cute little creatures can provide hours of entertainment by building mazes for them and watching them in their daily activities. Exercise for them in a rolling ball around the house can allow them to interact with the family. Feeding is simple and they can also be given salad scraps for a treat. Keeping their cages clean and tidy adds a bit more maintenance to these fun pets.

Slightly more responsibility is a bird. They require more attention, care of feeding and keeping their living space tidy. Not to mention the area surrounding their immediate living space tends to become littered as well. The satisfaction and company these wonderful animals can provide is very rewarding.

Cats and dogs tend to be the biggest commitment but they do offer a great deal of love, affection and reward in return. Cats can be left alone far longer during the days and tend to be rather tidy when it comes to their litter and feeding areas. However, they do shed and can be aloof.

Dogs will need much more attention and should not be left alone more than a few hours at a time. Every time you leave them they are not secure that you will ever return. That is why they are so excited when you come home. They require exercise and constant reassurance. Some breeds are better suited for apartment living and it really does not have anything to do with size. Great Danes tend to be very low drive and do very well in a more relaxed small home living. Whereas Chihuahuas are inclined to be very difficult to potty train and prove challenging in an apartment. Choose your breed after a good deal of research.

At Sierra Ranch we welcome pets of all kinds. We do not have size restrictions on dogs but do restrict certain aggressive breeds. We ask that you become a responsible pet owner during your stay; pick up your dog poo, clean out cages and litter boxes regularly and enjoy your pets!

Happy New Year!

Residents of Sierra Ranch we wish you a very prosperous and happy new year.

As many of you are aware this year is full of great changes for our community. The putting green is finished and ready for your enjoyment. You can borrow clubs and balls in the office if you don’t have your own.

We are in the process of adding two new exciting amenities to our great community.

The dog park will be located on the north side of building M. The dog park will be an area where you can let your dog off their leash and allow them some free running around time. Please be courteous of each other and mindful of your dog’s good behavior.

The badminton court will be located south of building O. This amenity will take a bit longer to build and will be as accurate as possible for outdoor badminton. We encourage you to create leagues and schedule time so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy this amenity.

Many of you have already noticed the shuttle parked in the front of the office. We will be posting pricing and information on how to utilize this amenity in the very near future. Our intention is to offer several trips daily to and from our largest employer American Express.

The tenant portal is up and running to full function.

You can log in and log a work order which will go directly to the maintenance staff. Any questions regarding your work orders can be emailed directly to the maintenance manager at Emailing your question directly to the maintenance manager gets           you a quicker response as you cut out the middle man by coming into the office to ask the staff.    We just have to ask the maintenance manager in order to get you an answer. Now you can community directly with the manager on your inquiries.

The tenant portal also allows you to pay your rent online. You can also view your account  balance in real time.

Our goal is to expand your enjoyment of the community you live in. We will continue to make improvements with you in mind.

Our best wishes to you and yours this year!
